Fishery Products of Biak Numfor Regency are Exported to Singapore
Biak Numfor Regency, Papua Province through the Integrated Marine and Fisheries Center succeeded in carrying out the first export of fishery product commodities to Singapore, Saturday (28/08/2021).
Some of the export commodities sent by air are 150 kilograms of tuna loin, 350 kilograms of crab, and 30 kilograms of lobster.
This export opportunity is also supported by the existence of connectivity infrastructure in the form of Frans Kaisiepo International Airport, which allows fishery commodities to be directly flown from Biak to other export destination countries in Asia.
"This time there are 28 tons of marine and fishery commodity exports from Biak Numfor via cargo planes from Sriwijaya Air. This is a big commitment to move forward and work together to create a strong Indonesia,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
This export is coordinated jointly by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Transportation, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, PT Angkasa Pura, Papua Provincial Government, and Biak Numfor Regional Government.
On that occasion, the Regent of Biak Numfor Herry Ario Naap revealed that the fisheries sector is the flagship and mainstay of the Biak Numfor Regency and the Cenderawasih/Saireri bay area. Management of economic resources, he added, is a necessity to encourage the growth and prosperity of the fisheries sector.
"This inaugural export launch marks that the Biak Numfor Regency Government will continue to export marine products in the long term, especially those with high export values such as tuna, crab and lobster," said Herry. (*)
