10 Thousand Kg of Aceh Frozen Octopus Exported to Japan
Fish Quarantine Agency, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries released 10,260 kg of frozen octopus from Simeuleu Island, Aceh Province, to Japan.
Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products, Rina, said that this is the first export of this commodity from Simeuleu.
"Today we report that we will release exports for the first time in Aceh's history, namely the export of frozen octopus fishery products," Rina said during the release of exports at Bumi Serambi Mecca, Friday (24/9/2021).
Rina added that the export success of Rp.885,903,920 was due to the synergy of stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Simeulue, Erly Hasyim, hopes that the first export from Simeulue to Japan can be a momentum for the revival of the marine and fisheries sector in his region.
He emphasized that his staff is committed to making the marine and fisheries sector the mainstay of the economy in order to improve the welfare of the community.
"The increase in the volume and value of Simeulue fishery production continues to be encouraged through the assistance of fishery facilities and infrastructure so that Simeulue's leading fishery commodities are able to meet the local market and can compete and be accepted in the international market," Erly explained.
On this occasion, Erly also appreciated Simeulue's first export of marine and fishery products which had made historical records. So far, there has never been a direct export from Simeulue to the destination country.
"We know that so far the Simeulue fishery products that continue to be sold to Medan and those who export are Medan businesses," he said. (*)
