Indonesian Batik Industry Exports Reach 533 Million US Dollars
The Indonesian Ministry of Industry noted that the achievement of batik exports in 2020 reached USD532.7 million, and during the first quarter of 2021 it was able to penetrate USD157.8 million.
"The batik industry has played an important role in the national economy and has succeeded in becoming a market leader in the world batik market," said the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, at the peak event for the 2021 National Batik Day Commemoration in Yogyakarta, Wednesday (6/10/2021).
Through Presidential Decree No. 33 of 2009, the government has designated October 2 as National Batik Day. The establishment of this National Batik Day is an effort to increase public awareness of efforts to protect and develop Indonesian batik.
The series of peak activities for Commemorating National Batik Day 2021, consisting of virtual discussion activities titled Inspirational Morning Chat (NGOPPI), batik workshops for people with disabilities, National Seminar on Crafts and Batik Industry (SNIKB) 2021, and organizing a Business Incubator through the Innovating Jogja 2021 program.
