The Padang Fish Quarantine and Quality Control and Fishery Product Safety (SKIPM) Station, West Sumatra recorded an export shipment of 1.5 tons of beautiful grouper fish to Malaysia via Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) Padang Pariaman Regency.
Head of SKIPM Padang, Abdur Rohman said, this was the first export of live fishery products this year. The value of the grouper sent was Rp. 155 million.
According to him, this fish comes from the cultivation of floating net cages (KJA) in the Nyalo River area, Pesisir Selatan Regency, which does cultivate in the area.
“The markets in Malaysia and Hong Kong are wide open. This all depends on the entrepreneur's ability to fill in according to the quality they want," said Abdur Rohman, quoted from Republika.co.id, Thursday (19/1/2022).
He said that in 2021, grouper exports from West Sumatra would reach 40,000 to Hong Kong with a value of up to Rp. 10 billion, sent by ship.
Furthermore, in 2022 there will be no grouper exports to Hong Kong because there are conditions in the destination country. He hopes that this year will get better. (*)
